Maurice Ashley
He is the first and only African American grandmaster. Chess is the name of the game. He says anyone who enters an important game and says he isn't nervous is lying or he just doesn't care. Playing online does it to me but I don't get nervous all the time in chess but more often than not. My heart beats a mile a minute at times and I did play a rated game for points and all I got for my last win was five points. One higher rated player at around 138 advised for me to not play in the beginner category or room but I have my hands full as it is I get plenty of challenge there by far I'd be in over my head if I were to play intermediate chess. But yes I was nervous and my fingers glided over the controls and I was all nerves feeling the moisture build up upon my finger tips. In the words of a grandmaster I googled to be a good player like a grandmaster one must practice six to eight hours per day with seven years of such practice under one's belt. This amount of practice is the bare requirements of achieving such a position one cannot reach this level of chess unless the hours of practice is put in without such practice the most talented player is down the tubes one can't do it.
